The H&B – Hair Art & Beauty team are trained to exceptionally high international standards, and incorporate a diverse range of styles and qualities that are tailored to meet the unique needs of each and every one of our clients.

Carla Thompson

Carla has worked in the industry for over 30 years and has owned H&B – Hair Art & Beauty for the past 12 years. Her passion is colour work and education, and she constantly strives to feed this passion by acquiring knowledge from internationally recognised stylists and colourists. She believes that education is paramount, and ensures that the H&B – Hair Art & Beauty team receive weekly training opportunities from both Australasian and European educators. She has grown H&B – Hair Art & Beauty from a single salon to a renown La Biosthetique Concept Salon, and is now able to fulfil her dream of offering clients a totally holistic hair and beauty experience.

George Howard

George has spent his life learning all he can about his profession and specialises in cutting fine hair, as no-one else seems to specialise in getting volume through cutting and use of good styling product. He's also passionate about cutting and styling long hair because he believes nothing looks sexier than beautifully cut long hair. George spent several years as a colour technician and enjoys painting a haircut to create totally individual results; soft, natural colour just a little outside the box – or take it to the wild side.

Jacqui Gavin

Hairdressing has been a very big part of Jacqui's life for the past 30 years. Jacqui believes every head of hair can be beautiful with the right care and attention. After owning her own salon, it gave her great experience and allowed her to indulge in and grow her passion for what she loves. Jacqui's main strength is her precision cutting and her main goal is to send every client out of the salon feeling pampered and looking gorgeous!

Jamie Duggan

Senior Stylist Jamie has worked in the industry for over 8 years and loves every moment of it. She puts 110% into all aspects of hairdressing and strives to achieve fantastic results through her creative flair and continued education. Jamie is excited to produce beautiful creations and her talent for long hair work and hair-ups, particularly bridal work, is second to none.

Charlotte Fleming

Charlotte first joined H&B – Hair Art & Beauty as an apprentice in 2009 and left in early 2011 when she moved to Australia. After completing her training and gaining valuable experience in Australia, she missed the team at H&B so much, she has come back to work on the floor. Charlotte is a great stylist and a highly experienced colourist who specialises in blondes. Her long hair work is exquisite and her creative style is amazing. Charlotte looks forward to seeing you soon!

Lisa Humphrey

Lisa is a reputable stylist who has been hairdressing for over 20 years, with experience in television, magazine work and wedding hair and make-up. Some of Lisa's most recent commercial photoshoot/television commercial work includes the University of Canterbury ad campaign, Jetstar billboards, Liberty fashions and the New Zealand Gambling awareness campaign. Other work includes Fashion Quarterly, NZ Bride & Groom, Adine Wilson (captain of the Silver Ferns), TV3, Harcourts Gold and Fairydown. She specialises in gorgeous long hair work and loves cutting and working with curly hair – understanding peoples needs in this area. Lisa has a passion for wedding hair and make-up, as well as all aspects of hairstyling, cutting and colouring. She loves working with people, fashion, hair and make-up trends. Lisa will listen and work with you to bring together the hair and make-up that will compliment the look you wish for. She takes into consideration your face shape, colouring, and hair type, playing up your best features and making you look and feel beautiful.

Lesley Barker

Lesley has worked in the industry for over 40 years and is as passionate now as when she first started. She believes that education is the key to keeping pace with current trends, which she adapts to suit her clients. She has owned her own salons but now enjoys the freedom of working as a sub-contractor. She has been lucky in retaining a great many clients over the years who continue to refer new clients to her, which makes for a happy team all round. She enjoys all aspects of the industry from shampoo and sets, through to long hair work.

Luana Smart

Luana is a qualified beauty therapist and aesthetician who trained at The National School of Aesthetics in Christchurch. She joined H&B in March 2009 and has since travelled to Melbourne and Sydney to train in the unique range of La Biosthetique skin care products. She has also trained in the Dermatech treatment system which is developed around glycolic cream. She enjoys undertaking a wide range of beauty treatments and seeing the benefits gained from using La Biosthetique products complemented by those from the Dermatech treatment system. She has a passion for making each client feel welcome, pampered and relaxed.

Amanda Taylor

Amanda has over 26 years experience as a beauty therapist. She trained in Hong Kong and has also worked in Germany and the UK as well as for the cruise ship industry. She brings to H&B a passionate belief that everyone is entitled to relax and improve their wellbeing. Amanda is experienced in all forms of beauty treatments but specialises in deep tissue massage – perfect for relaxing away the stress and strains of everyday life!

Sally Ashworth

After several years as a stylist, Sally has chosen to make a career change and has joined our reception team. Her background as a stylist and colourist means that she has a wealth of knowledge in these areas and is happy to answer any questions you may have. Her extensive La Biosthetique product knowledge means that she is able to recommend the best products for clients to use. Sally is ready and waiting to welcome you to the salon or if you feel you simply need to change products, pop in and see her for a chat!

Sally is currently on maternity leave and is enjoying being a proud mum to baby daughter, Ruby.

Ruby Wade

Ruby is in her second year of her apprenticeship here at H&B – Hair Art & Beauty. She has a huge passion for the hairdressing industry and is always learning and striving for more. Ruby loves to keep up with the latest fashion trends and styles, combining this knowledge with her work. She believes clients should feel pampered, relaxed and enjoy that wow factor, which she is happy to be a part of – it makes her smile every time!

Marion Tizzard

Marion joined H&B – Hair Art & Beauty in July 2008 and works alongside Carla to ensure that H&B’s philosophy of excellence is carried through at every level. H&B has grown considerably over the past few years and Marion and Carla have even greater plans for the future! Marion is just about to finish a Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Canterbury and plans to work part-time as a social worker whilst continuing to develop H&B’s potential to be the number one salon in Christchurch.

Janet Laverack

Janet joined H&B – Hair Art & Beauty in September 2007 and quickly became an invaluable member of the H&B team. Initially she joined as a salon assistant but has become so much more – mother, sister, friend and confidante to both clients and team members alike. Janet undertook training in 2010 to become a qualified Indian Head Massage therapist and comes highly recommended. The blissful look on the faces of clients as they leave the salon relaxed and de-stressed says it all...

Krys Fluitsma

Krys is part of H&B's front desk team, waiting to talk to clients by phone or greet them as they visit the salon. Krys comes from a strong customer service background having worked previously for ASB and Telecom. She relates well to people from all walks of life, from the very young to the young at heart. Krys takes pride in offering exceptional service which is a good fit with H&B's philosophy of excellence.
